In February it was Chinese New Year and we decided to organise a Chinese
function to celebrate the event. Here is an unedited report from one of
the staff involved:
"On February
10th, a group of sixteen clients accompanied by six members of staff travelled
by the house minibus and cars to the Elmington Hotel Green Room Chinese
restaurant in Torquay.
The occasion was to celebrate a client's birthday and also he was leaving
us in a few day's time, it also happened to coincide with the Chinese
New Year. A very pleasant evening and excellent food was enjoyed by all.
Our clients were in very good spirits with a lot of talking and laughter.
All agreed how much they had enjoyed the evening and expressed a wish
to be able to go again at a future date.
Signed Trish"
The experience is
on the planning timetable and will be repeated shortly.

Holidays
 |
We like to be able to organise holiday breaks for clients. Obviously
not all clients are able to afford holidays but we do endeavour to
investigate every opportunity we can, to ensure that those clients
who might be able to benefit from holidays are able to do so. These holidays are not restricted to the UK.
Two female clients are visiting Tunisia in May, followed by in June
five male clients will visit the same destination. Ireland and the
Alps are destinations for other clients during the summer. |
| Obviously,
extraordinary, often subsidised items like these, are organised in
conjunction and agreement with the client, family and Social Services.
We are not just a home offering holiday breaks. As a smaller private
operation and with staff specialised in dealing with our category
of clients, we feel that we are able to provide more comprehensive
client care which can benefit from holiday breaks. |

The Ice Show at Westpoint and the annual tour of Grease are always popular evenings out. |

The fishing season
starts in May, and we have a couple of clients who will be able to pursue
their therapeutic hobbies. We have an arrangement with one of the local
lake owners for our clients to be taken there, be able to have coffee
and meat pies on site and be collected early afternoon. They catch the
occasional fish too!

| KorCareLtd
has a reputation for its flexibility and willingness to go 'that
extra mile' to cater for client needs. All of the clients would not
have been able to experience these trips without the help of assisted
financial management, and the willingness of staff to provide the
time and accept the huge responsibilities of taking clients on trips.
Our commendations to the staff involved and we hope that these efforts
help our clients achieve elements of normal life ambitions and aspirations
that they would otherwise not have been able to enjoy. |
